  • Test of Proficiency in Korean(TOPIK)
  • There is also a test that assess one's ability to speak Korean, and not teach it. It is known as TOPIK, or Test of Proficiency in Korean, which is managed by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, and administered by the Korean Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation.
  • TOPIK (http://www.topik.or.kr/) is targeted at non-natives whose first language is not Korean, overseas Koreans learning Korean, those wishing to study at a Korean university, Korean companies in and outside of Korea and those wishing to be employed at public institutions. The 10th test was held in 2006. The test has three different levels and six grades: beginner (grade 1, grade 2), intermediate (grade 3, grade 4) and advanced (grade 5, grade 6).
  • Starting in 2005, based on the Employment Permit System, the Korean proficiency test has become an obligatory standard in employing foreign workers. The Korean Globalization Organization and the Korean Language Society have been selected to administer the test, EPS-KLT (Employment Permit System - Korean Language Test). There is also the Korean Language Proficiency Test (http://www.klpt.org/), managed by the Korean Language Society.
