A class of Korean traditional music for foreigners
There is an increase in the number of foreigners interested in Korean traditional music. Some of them are not satisfied with the joy of listening and wish to play the country’s traditional musical instruments. This program will go a long way in satisfying such wishes
The National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts-Class for Foreigners
The National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts (NCKTPA) - Music Class for Foreigners
The NCKTPA provides Korean traditional music classes for foreigners who live in Korea to help them in the understanding of the country's traditional culture, through live experience. Professional musicians and lecturers with experience run the entire program in both Korean and English. Instruments necessary for lessons, except for danso (bamboo flute), can be borrowed from the center.
The Spring Semester is held from March to June (12 weeks) (10:30-12:30 am every Saturday). The Fall Semester is held from September to December (12 weeks) (10:30-12:30 am every Saturday). Classes are provided at the Gugak Training Center, NCKTPA in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul.
Classes are provided for the following instruments: Janggu (hourglass-shaped double-headed drum), gayageum (12-stringed plucked zither), danso (vertical bamboo flute), and samulnori (percussion quartet). Fee: 30,000 won per semester.

Hands-on experience of Korean cultures at the Korea House
The Korea House, located in front of Namsangol Hanok Maeul in Chungmu-ro, Seoul, provides foreigners with various opportunities for hands-on experience of the Korean traditional culture, including classes on how to play danso and samulnori. Classes are only provided when there are at least 20 people registered. So, it is advisable to call the institution to see when you can attend the class.
Classes are held twice a day - 9:00 -11:00 am and 2:30 - 4:30 pm, except on weekends and public holidays. Those who wish to take lessons should attend one of the two classes. Fee: 35,000 won for danso and 30,000 won for samulnori.
