Namsan Hanok Area
At the Pildong area located at the foot of the northern side of Namsan, there is a Hanok village. This village was famous as a summering spot with a valley and Cheonwugak(pavilion). It was also called Cheonghak-dong, as Cheonghak, blue cranes, lived there.

As Cheonghak-dong boasts its beautiful scenery, it was listed as one of the five most beautiful villages in Seoul along with Samcheong-dong, Inwang-dong, Ssanggye-dong, and Baekwun-dong.
Namsan Hanok Area
In order to restore the beauty of Namsan Hanok Village for the citizens, valleys, streams, and traditional gardens with arbors and trees were artificially built. Five traditional houses including the house of Park Yeong-hyo, one the eight largest houses in Seoul, and commoners' houses were moved to the area of 7,934m2 (2,400pyeong).
In these houses, furniture fit for the size of the houses and the social status of their previous residents was equipped in the traditional way, enabling tourists to see the lifestyle of ancient Koreans. In the traditional craft center there is a permanent exhibition of art works of masters designated as intangible cultural assets, and souvenirs.
